SERGE V. BAKALIAN 

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Serge V. Bakalian is an experienced business executive of high international repute spanning over 40 years in the food manufacturing and the hospitality industry. Serge has been the brain behind the success and growth of Takoradi Flour Mill Ltd (TFM) from the daily 200 M/T (Wheat) milling capacity in 1974 to the current daily 1100 M/T (Wheat) milling capacity from three production plants. The result is the production of quality wheat flour and related by-products supplied to the Ghanaian market and for export to other West African countries.    

As the business owner and the Executive Director of the company, his vision and direction over the years has resulted in the company’s enviable position as the producer of the best quality wheat flour product across the West African region. Serge is an astute international business executive with interests across the globe. He is a result oriented person, friendly and dedicated to making Ghana a better place to live.

MICHEL GHAJAR

CHIEF OPERATIONS MANAGER

Michel Ghajar has over 28 years of Business Operations experience in the area of manufacturing and retail. Michel has been instrumental in the success and growth of Takoradi Flour Mill Ltd (TFM) in the production of quality wheat flour and related by-products to the Ghanaian market and for export to other West African countries. He is currently the Chief Operations Manager (COM) of TFM. Michel has been with TFM for the past 25 years. 

Prior to joining Takoradi Flour Mill Ltd., Michel worked with the giant textile manufacturing company in Ghana known as Spintex Ltd for a period of 2 years as Manager in charge of Logistics, Accounting, Procurement and Security Advisor. As an astute business operations person, he has provided leadership and guidance to other successful businesses within the retail space. He is a hands-on person, professional in attitude and dedicated to his job and colleagues.

Michel is a trained professional accountant. He holds a degree from St. ELIE  University in Lebanon. He was born in Lebanon but now a Ghanaian citizen. He is married with a son and a daughter. Michel was a keen volleyball player but now prefers to read books and take a walk to keep himself fit for the next day.

 

SAYED GHAJAR

CHIEF SALES & MARKETING MANAGER

Sayed Ghajar is an experienced Sales and Marketing person spanning over 25 years in the food manufacturing industry. Sayed has been influential in the success and growth of Takoradi Flour Mill Ltd (TFM) in the sale and marketing of the company’s quality wheat flour and related by-products to the Ghanaian market and for export to other West African countries. He is currently the Chief Sales & Marketing Manager (CSMM) of TFM. He has been with TFM for the past 22 years. 

Prior to joining Takoradi Flour Mill Ltd., Sayed worked with Ghandour Industries Ltd. for 4 years. As an astute Sales & Marketing person, he has provided leadership and guidance to the Sales and Marketing team leading to TFM products being the preferred wheat flour product by traders and bakers across the country. Sayed is a result oriented person and a team player.

Sayed is a trained professional born in Lebanon but now a Ghanaian citizen. He is married with a son and a daughter. Sayed likes travelling and sight-seeing. To keep himself fit for the next day, he takes a walk.

 

PATRICK ABBAN

CHIEF FINANCE, HR & ADMIN. CONSULTANT

Patrick Abban joined Takoradi Flour Mill Ltd in October 2019 as a Finance & Business Restructuring Consultant. He has over 28 years of Business Management experience across banking and industry. Patrick has 24 years banking experience covering International banking operations, Trade Finance, Correspondent banking, Corporate Client Relationships as well as Cash & Trade Product Management). Patrick joined Barclays Bank Ghana (Now ABSA Bank) in 2007 to set up the Bank’s Trade Sales unit. In this role he led teams to execute high profile trade finance transactions including the flagship Ghana Cocoa Board syndicated annual trade finance facility, providing product structuring and advisory services. He was the Director in charge of Transactional Services.

Prior to joining Barclays Bank (Now ABSA Bank), Patrick spent 14 years of his youthful life with Merchant Bank (Now Universal Merchant Bank – UMB) rising through the rank to Senior Corporate Relationship Manager. He was instrumental in the setting up and smooth operation of Trade Finance unit between 2003 and 2007 leading to the bank winning several awards.  Patrick has travelled far and wide across Europe and Africa representing the two banks he worked for. Patrick is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana and holds a degree in Banking & Finance as well as Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA – Finance).

Patrick is now a Financial / Business Restructuring consultant and part time farmer in oil palm. He is married with two boys. Patrick likes watching soccer and reading.

 

EDWARD QUARMINA HOWARD 

CONSULTING CHIEF ACCOUNTANT

Edward Quarmina Howard has over thirty years of experience in Accounting, Auditing and Taxation with extensive experience in all aspects of Financial Management and Taxation. He is noted for his excellent communication and relationship building skills as well as organizational and leadership skills 

Edward joined the TFM family on 1st May 1990 as an Accounts Officer at the Factory in Takoradi and by dint of expertise, hard work, loyalty and professionalism rose through the rank to the position of Chief Accountant. Prior to his appointment as the Chief Accountant, Edward was the Head of Internal Audit. He has also worked with the Sales & Marketing team as the Business Development Officer at the Odorkor Depot (Marketing), Accra between 2011 to 2013. 

He has been instrumental in the success and growth of TFM and the current organisational structure of the Accounts Department. Edward has been involved in the computerization of the business and the installation of the accounting system known as ACCPAC Accounting Package. He has been a trainer of trainers for the benefit of his subordinates who are able to work with little or no supervision.

Edward is a Chartered Accountant and a member of:

  • The Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG) 
  • Chartered Institute of Taxation, Ghana (CITG)
  • The Institute of Internal Auditors, Ghana
  • International Professional Managers Association (IPMA), U.K – Diploma in Management

He also holds an Honours Degree, Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Cape Coast. Edward is married with a beautiful daughter. He is a part time farmer.

 

NAZEER KHAN KUNDUKOOLI

CHIEF MILLER

Nazeer Khan Kundukooli has over 21 years of experience in the food industry specifically flour milling, feed milling, bran pelleting, mash, crumbs and specialty in milling plants.  He also has hands on expertise in Tetra Pack aseptic bulk packaging in fruit juice processing, vegetable processing, natural candy processing and flavored drinks production.

Nazeer has worked in various flour milling plants across the world and rising through the rank from Assistant Miller to Head of Mills and Head of Technology. He has commissioned many single machines and complete flour milling plants for Buhler A G Switzerland in more than 30 countries. He has been a consultant to few milling companies in Africa, Middle east and the Americas. He is exposed to various quality standard accreditation and standardization like ISO’s, HACCP, Kaizen, TQM, KPI, GMP, HALAL, in food industries.

He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Food Technology from Calicut University, Diploma in Flour Milling Technology from Central Food Research Institute in Mysore, India. IAOM from, Kansas, USA and Advanced Flour Milling Technology Training from Buhler AG, Uzwil, Switzerland.  Nazeer has a Masters Degree in Management Studies from the University of Mumbai in India and Diploma in Foreign Trade from World Trade Organization’s Institute, Mumbai.

Prior to joining Takoradi Flour Mill Ltd., Nazeer has worked with Amman Grand Flour mills, Amman, Jordan, Buhler AG offices in Europe and Africa, P.T. Agri First Indonesia at Medan, Indonesia, SIDUL (Bakalian Mills), Beirut, Lebanon, Kuwait Flour Mills Co., Shuwaikh Seaport, Kuwait, Emigrain L.L.C, Sharjah, U.A.E., Galf Agro Products Co, Palakkad, Kerala, India, Salem Food Products Co., Salem, Tamil Nadu, India and Nadukkara Agro Processing Co., Movattupuzha, India.

Nazeer is a family man. He likes travelling.  

MARTERSON ARMAH

HUMAN RESOURCE AND INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS CONSULTANT

Marterson Armah holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A. Hons.) and Master of Arts (M.A. Hon) degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from the University of Ghana, Legon. He also holds a certificate in Human Resource Management from the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand.

He has over Twenty (20) years’ experience in Human Resource and Administration Management with successful career with the Social Security and National Insurance Trust, Ashanti Goldfields Limited, now Anglogold Ashanti Limited, Ghacem Limited, an affiliate of the Heidelberg Cement in Germany. He also worked with the Bollore Africa Logistics, a French multinational Shipping and Logistics Company. In Ghacem Limited he had oversight responsibilities for the Human Resource Operations in the Leocem, a sister company in Sierra Leone. He also set up the Human Resource Department at the Edo Cement Limited in Nigeria as part of his training as an African Expatriate. African Expatriate is a concept built and nurtured by the Heidelberg Cement aimed at training few Africans to take up responsible positions in the group.

He also worked with Ayton Drug Manufacturing Limited, a company then held by Adcock Ingram, the second largest Pharmaceutical Manufacturing company in South Africa. Ayrton is Currently owned by DAS, a pharmaceutical company incorporated by Dannex Limited, Aryton Limited and Starwin Limited all in Ghana. Marterson Armah has also held the position of the Group Human Resource Manager at the Kinapharma Limited, a pharmaceutical company in Ghana.

He is a member in Good Standing (SPHR) of the Society for Human Resource Management, Virginia, USA, and he is currently the Human Resource and Industrial Relations Consultant Takoradi Flour Mill Limited.

BIJU SWAMINATHAN

Maintenance Manager

Biju has over 15 years of experience in the maintenance department of the food industry and over seven years of work experience in a manufacturing company.

Biju started his career as a service engineer in the weighing machine section of a manufacturing company. Since then, he has worked as an electrical and maintenance supervisor in various flour mills, feed mills, chakki mills, and silos plants across the Middle East countries, handling various projects and machine upgrades in those plants. Before joining Takoradi Flour Mills Ltd, Biju worked at GSFMO Jeddah and Dammam plants in Saudi Arabia, Oman Flour Mills Muscat Oman, and Aghtia Grand Mills Company Abu Dhabi UAE. Experienced in Buhler, Ocrim, Molino, Alappala, Ottivenger flour and feed mills, and fully automated packing machines and robotic palletiser.

He holds an Electronics Engineering Diploma and an Advanced Diploma in JAVA, C, C++ Programming. and General Automation, Silo pro plant and PLC training from Buhler Scherler Team, and Automatic Control and Electrical Engineering training from SAEI, Saudi Arabia.

Biju is a family man and he likes traveling and listening to music
